Microwave a tbsp of the oil for 15 seconds and cut the stem so the gel part is exposed (by trimming the prickly edges first). Then dip the exposed part in the oil and scrub it gently on whole scalp. Leave it there for about an hour (you can cover your head with cling film and do other stuff) then shampoo and condition as you usually would. The oil moisturizes while the gel smoothes the itching.
I got this virgin coconut oil from well.ca (smells great you can also use it as lotion) and the plant from a local grocery store called PA.
Coconut oil is so commonly used as a hair mask where I’m from. As often as every weekend during my childhood, my mom would oil my hair and I hated it! Well now I love it especially in these harsh #mtl winters that dry your skin so badly. Trying aloe vera for the first time was interesting. I think it will be a tradition of my own!
